Drama in the Woods brings you another exciting weekend residential theatre devising experience, this time we are very excited to be collaborating with Chickenshed Theatre Company whose work and ethos has inspired lots of the ways we work at Drama in the Woods. 

This summer we are taking our young people to Braid Wood in Chesham, set high in the Chiltern Hills, it's another beautiful location to explore and inspire.

Experienced youth theatre practitioners from Drama in the Woods and Chickenshed will join forces to lead, support and facilitate the group as they create, devise and finally perform. 

Members are invited to come along to Chickenshed Theatre ahead of the weekend in May (date to be confirmed) to meet the team and take part in a workshop. Here we will explore ideas and possibilities that will form the basis of our devised piece. Over the weekend at Braid Wood members will then develop those ideas as they take part in unique workshops that fuse together outdoor team building activities with drama and design, creating opportunities for individuals to socialise, collaborate and grow.

Food (cereals breakfast, snacks, packed lunch and hot dinner- all dietary requirements will be catered for, details of which will be asked for at the time of booking), accommodation- two person tents, activities, materials.

Personal kit and travel

Through this creative, shared experience, members will learn about themselves and each other, developing as individuals and as an ensemble when they perform together on the Sunday to family and friends in a promenade performance through the woods.

Drama in the Woods projects are like no other and aim to provide a safe, fun and supportive environment where young people can explore their own imaginations, share, create and develop ideas, and see those ideas realised, all the while drawing inspiration and resources from the nature around them. The experience is fully immersive, with the surroundings alone promoting a sense of belonging, wellbeing and empowerment.

Braid Wood site has excellent camping facilities in its’ beautiful 14 acres, providing the perfect location for the group to work, socialise and then relax around the fire once the sun goes down.



For an additional cost of £30 Drama in the Woods will provide mini-bus transport from London to Braid Wood.                      

Families are encouraged to join us on Sunday 29th June, to spend the day in Chesham or walking in the Chiltern Hills, before joining us for our performance. 

We will organise transport for anyone not able to travel back with family.

This will include all required kit and more detailed information about the weekend, as well as travel and meeting arrangements. All staff hold fully enhanced DBS certificates and there are always two trained first aiders on every project.
